One question that is asked a lot is "Do they have capital punishment?". Capital punishment is not practiced today in Canada, but back then if you got the death penalty you would be hung. They used to before 1967. In 1967, they put a moratorium on the death penalty, so it came to a halt. They do put you in prison for life. Canada does have a police organization called the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. They look alot like our police force here in the US. An example of what it is like to be arrested by them: you can be arrested with or without a warrant. The officer will take physical control of the suspect and tell the that they are under arrest and tell them why.

Prison Life
They usually have a roommate. Food is basically just the main food groups; meat, vegetables, bread, etc. Of course it doesn't look very yummy but the people in prison aren't supposed to be living high on the hog. The Canadian government is the one who owns the prisons. Ontario is the only one who has privately owned prisons.
